Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Gonzales Oakley son, Roberto L. 25, 1931, in Denver, Colo., to James and Bell Oakley, who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Frances Gibons, Louise Gjonvich and his father and mother-in-law, Jose and Rosita Gonzales. He was a graduate of South High School, Class of 1981, and was employed by PDI for two years. He was a Second Class Boy Scout, an officer of Bowling Dynamics Duo League, a member of Eagles Aerie No. Gary was a lifetime Pueblo resident and had been distinguished as the March of Dimes Poster Child for two years and later was designated as the Easter Seals Poster Child for two years. Miss Oakes, the night she was taken ill, requested that if she died she wanted to be buried in the Silverton cemetery, although her parents are both buried in the cemetery at Wichita, Kansas. Her funeral occurred this afternoon at 4 o'clock, and the public schools were closed during the day. Deceased was a native of Mississippi and was in her 37th year. Her brother and a few intimate friends were at her bedside when the end came. Later – Miss Oakes died this morning at 5 o'clock without regaining consciousness. During her short residence here, Miss Oakes has made many friends, all of whom wish her a speedy recovery. Oakes of Pueblo, was notified of her serious illness by wire and he arrived here last Monday evening. Miss Oakes came from Pueblo about three weeks ago to accept a position as teacher which she has only held for two weeks. Last Friday evening she was taken ill and for the past two days she has been unconscious, and her attending physicians have doubts as to her recovery. –(Special.) – Miss Frances Oakes, one of the teachers in the public schools of this city, lies critically ill with heart trouble.
